I am a career banker from 1971. I joined State Bank of India in Hyderabad and had long career of 21 years. I retired voluntarily as Chief Manager in 1993. I took to teaching students at MBA level since 1999. I have seen dramatic changes in last four decades in the banking industry in India. I invite all like minded people in the fraternity to share their views frankly for wider debate of issues.

Welcome to Indian School of Microfinance for Women ( ISMW )

Welcome to Indian School of Microfinance for Women ( ISMW )

Very few people know that there is an agency called Indian School of Microfinance for Women. Similarly many do not know the existence of SEWA (Self Employment to Women Association, Ahmedabad) or Women's World Banking who are catering exclusively to women in rural areas as also who want to be self-employed.

State and Central Governments should encourage such Not-for Profit Organisations, publicise their activities and support them in financial, managerial and operational areas. In the process, these governments would have also worked for the cause of the rural - unemployed - illiterate and destitute women who are less fortunate to get such services in public. They are supplementing the efforts of the government through their five year plans and in a phased manner. But ISMW appears to be involving itself in a range of activities like Agriculture, Renewable Energy, Technology, Education, Electrification, Housing Development, insurance, communication, and allied subjects too.
